Attack in Narayani FM leaves one injured in Parsa

An unidentified group has attacked Community Radio Narayani FM in Birgunj in on February 21. Two armed men attacked the Sripur-based office of the radio station in the night. Brij Mohan Yadav, 34, security guard of the FM station was injured in the incident. He sustained severe injury in his head. He received treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital. According to Yadav, two unidentified men jumped inside the FM station from the wall and asked for the keys. They attacked him when he refused to hand them over the key. He added that the assailants ran away attacking him with a sharp weapon as he cried for help. The assailants also took away his mobile phone. Staff at the FM station, Madhuri Mahato was also being attempted an attack a few days ago. Administration Chief of the FM station Bidur Gautam said that the District Police Office and District Administration Office were informed about the incident. Federation of Nepali Journalists Parsa Chapter has condemned the serious of attacks on media persons and media houses in Birgunj. Media persons led by FNJ Parsa Chairperson Shyam Banjara met DSP Homendra Bogati and demanded action against the culprits.
