Banke/September 16

The relatives of Krishna Bahadur Basnet, 45, of Lauki in Khaskushma9 have vandalized the Nepalgunj Medical College following his death on September 15, just before being discharged from the Hospital.

Basnet was admitted to the Hospital on September 9. Dr Muslim Khan, involved in his treatment said that he would be released on September 15 as his condition was much improved.

Basnet’s son Ghanshyam Basnet said his father died soon after an injection was administered to him. He accused the doctor of prescribing wrong medicine because the doctor had told them earlier that his father was ok and could leave home.

Hospital administration chief Arbind Joshi said that Basnet was given regular injection and that he could have choked the bread and milk that he was taking for breakfast.

He informed that a four-member committee with Dr Gopal Shrestha as its leader was also formed to investigate the incident.

MBBS first year student Pratik Maurya sustained minor injuries when the angry relatives smashed the glasses of the hospital bus and window panes.

The relatives said that the hospital administration had promised to provide them Rs 25,000 but the administration denies this.
