Supporters of suspended parliamentarian Sanjaya Kumar Shah's spouse Rangila Devi Shah have enforced shut down in Janakpur today. The supports claim that police mistreated Rangila Devi who was arrested while she was staging hunger-strike at Janakpur Chowk, demanding a legal investigation into a case where her spouse is alleged of murdering media entrepreneur Arun Singhania. The transportation service, academic institutions, and industries in the Janakpur area have suffered adverse impacts due to the strike. According to the District Police Office, Rangila Devi was taken to the Zonal Hospital after her health started deteriorating during the protest. She was staging protest since April 14. Rangila Devi, however, has accused police of manhandling her and piling pressure on her for undergoing treatment at the Hospital. Meanwhile, Shivashankar Shah, President of Janakpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has staged hunger-strike at Janakpur Chowk, protesting the inhumane behaviour towards Rangila Devi.
