Lumbini, Banke, Nepalgunj

The CPN-Maoist led by Netra Bikram Chand has set fire to an excavator belonging to Pappu Construction Company, which is responsible for the construction of the four-lane Ranjha-Jamunaha road in Banke. The party accused the contractor of poor road construction and set fire to the excavator that was being parked at its temporary office in Nepalgunj-13 on Thursday night at around 1 am. District Police Office (DPO), Banke, said that they believed that the CPN-Maoist was behind the arson attack as the party's leaflet had been left at the arson site. The leaflet stated that the party resorted to such action to punish the contractor for substandard road construction. "We are looking for those involved in the incident. It is apparent that the CPN-Maoist was involved in the attack," said DSP Bhim Kiram Bogati, spokesperson of the DPO. Bal Bahadur Malla of the youth wing of the CPN-Maoist said the party had to resort to the action to punish the contractor for "severe negligence" in the construction work. He also warned that his party will take further action if the contractor does not mend ways.
