Sugarcane farmers of Rautahat resorted to vandalism and arson at Shriram Sugar Mills situated in Mahammadpur Garuda on Tuesday, citing the Mill's reluctance to clear the dues owed to the farmers since a long time. The Mill's owner had earlier agreed to clear the farmers dues by Tuesday, but after the farmers felt on Tuesday that the mill's owner were in no mood to pay the dues, the irate farmers vandalized the mill. धेरै समयदेखि बाँकी रहेको उखुको बक्यौता भुक्तानीको माग गर्दै मंगलबार रौतहटका किसानहरुले श्रीराम सुगर मिल्स लिमिटेड महम्मदपुर गरुडामा तोडफोड र आगजनी गरेका छन् । चिनीमिलले मंगलबारदेखि किसानको बक्यौता भुक्तानी गर्न उखु उत्पादक संघ रौतहटसँग सहमति गरेको थियो । भुक्तानीको लागि चिनीमिलमा आएका किसानले भुक्तानी पाउने छाँटकाट नदेखेपछि आक्रोसशत भएका थिए ।
