The protesting locals of Kalaiya Municipality in Bara district started on a relay hunger strike on Thursday demanding that a sub-metropolis status for the municipality. They have been protesting the Local Level Restructuring Commission’s proposal to split some wards from the municipality and merge into the proposed Simara-Jitput Sub-metropolis.The representatives of all major political parties and office bearers of the Bara Chambers of Commerce and Industry staged the hunger strike on Thursday.
