Most of the appeals that the district administration office (DAO) has received seeking relief in the name of killed and disappeared persons lack supporting details. The DAO has said that most of the appeals filed by the family of persons killed and disappeared during the conflict lack evidences.

The DAO received 67 new appeals in the name of killed persons while 41 new appeals were filed in the name of disappeared persons by December 22, which was the last date for the registration of the appeals seeking relief.

An all party meeting called by the DAO to discuss on these appeals on January 3 has decided to give one month time for submission of evidences.

"The meeting decided to give one month to collect evidences as most of the appeals on killing and disappearances lack necessary evidences," CDO of Achham Hari Prasad Bhandari said. "The DAO will publish a notice calling for submission of evidences," he said.

Family of 177 persons killed by the conflict have already received relief amount from the DAO. 7271 new appeals have been filed in the DAO seeking relief. The DAO has said that 80 percent of these appeals might be fraudulent.
