None of the mother wanted to tie their children in a chain , but unfortunately one mother had to tie her son in a chain like an animal when she is going somewhere. Seven years old boy Shiva Kumal of Ribdikot Rural municipality-1 is being tied in a chain since long time. His other friends are going to school carrying bag but he had to be tied in a chain. Shiva’s mother Parvati said that he is being tied in a chain since he started to walk. Shiva cannot speak however he can recognize his acquaintances. There is Kalika elementary school nearby but he does not go to school. When there is some program in the school, his mother takes him to the schoolboy tying him in a chain. Shiva was taken to Tansen Lumbini Medical College for treatment however his condition did not improve. His mother said that she do not have money to take him to a good hospital for treatment. “Every one says his condition can improve if taken to a good hospital but we do not have money”, she added. Parvati has two other boys, one is studying at standard 5 and other in nursery group. Principal Suresh Kumar of Kalika elementary school said that his condition might improve if proper treatment is provided. आफैँले जन्माएको बच्चालाई गाई बाख्रालाई जस्तै सिक्रीले बाँधेर राख्न मन कुन आमालाई होला र ? तर, यहाँ एउटी आमाको दैनिकी आफैँले जन्म दिएको छोरालाई सिक्रीले बाँधेर घरमा राख्ने र आफू वरपर जाँदा उनलाई सिक्रीमै डोर्‍याउँदै बित्ने गरेको छ । रिब्दीकोट गाउँपालिका-१ ख्याहा जोगीथुमका सात वर्षीय बालक शिवकुमाल जन्मेर जान्ने बुझ्ने भएदेखि नै सिक्रीमा बाँधिएका छन् । आफ्नो उमेरका साथीहरू बिद्यालय जाँदा उनले सिक्रीमै जेलिएर घरको पिँढीमा बसेर दिन बिताउनुपरेको छ । छोरा जन्मेर हिँड्ने डुल्ने भएदेखि नै यसरी बाँधेर राखिएको शिवकी आमा पार्वती कुमालले बताइन् । ‘घर वरपर धेरै चकचक गर्ने, बिगो गर्ने, उत्तिखेरै भागेर टाढाटाढासम्म जाने गर्छ । त्यही भएर यसरी बाँधेर राखिएको हो ।’ शिव बोल्न सक्दैनन् तर आफन्तहरूलाई पहिचान गर्न सक्छन् । घर नजिकै कालिका आधारभुत विद्यालय पनि छ । तर, उनलाई विद्यालय पठाइएको छैन । विद्यालयमा कुनै कार्यक्रम भएका बेला उनकी आमा पार्वतीले सिक्रीले डोर्‍याउँदै लैजान्छिन् र कक्षाकोठाभित्रै बाँधेर राख्छिन् । उनको उपचारका लागि तानसेनको लुम्बिनी मेडिकल कलेज र मिसन अस्पतालमा लगेपनि कुनै सुधार नभएको र आफूसित आर्थिक अभाव भएका कारण अन्यत्र राम्रो अस्पतालमा लैजान नसकिएको पार्वतीले बताइन् । ‘सबैले राम्रो अस्पतालमा लैजान सके सञ्चो हुन्छ भन्नुभएको छ । तर, यसको उपचारका लागि मसँग पैसा छैन ।’-उनले भनिन् । पार्वतीका अरू दुई जना छोरा पनि छन् । उनीहरूमध्ये एउटा कक्षा ५ र अर्का शिशु कक्षामा पढ्छन् । शिव पार्वतीका माइला छोरा हुन् । स्थानीय कालिका आधारभुत विद्यालयका प्रधानाध्यापक सुरेश कुमालले शिव एक-दुई दिन स्कुल आएपनि उनका कारण अरू साथीहरूलाई पनि बाधा गरेकाले पछि अभिभावकले ल्याउन छाडेको बताए । ‘नियमित सिक्रीमा बाँधेर राख्ने गरिएकोले उनको मानसिकता नै त्यस्तै भएको र सामान्य उपचार गराउन सके उनलाई केही सुधार हुन सक्छ ।’-प्रधानाध्यापक कुमालले भने ।
