People Urged to Defeat War Criminals

Jhapa/September 21 INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel has urged the voters to ignore the people involved in crimes and war crimes. Pyakurel was speaking at an interaction on ‘Peace and Constituent Assembly’ jointly organized by NHRC-Eastern Regional, Office, INSEC, Local Peace Committee Jhapa, IDF Nepal and Youth Action, Jhapa in Birtamod on September 21. Expressing his opinion, Pyakurel said that as Nepal was already a state party to international laws on universal human rights, they would not be spared by the countries committed to human rights like the EU members, even if they become leaders or ministers. The people of Nepal need CA election and from there, the leaders would are creative, Pyakurel said adding the people should give victory to good people and defeat the bad ones. He was of the opinion that the political parties had committee blunder in the past by giving candidacy to the criminals like Bal Krishna Dhungel. Speaking at the same program, chief election officer and District Judge, Ramesh Khatri said all the preparation for the elections was complete and urged for positive support from political parties, civil society and media persons. District Police chief SP Sher Bahadur Basnet claimed that there will be no security issue during the elections and that the police would be able to tackle any minor problems.
