Locals of Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality of Rautahat held a demonstration in front of the Area Police Office of Gangapipara on Saturday against what they called high-handedness of sub-inspector Ramprit Sharma. Scores of locals along with the traders of Pipara gheraoed the police office, burnt tyres and chanted slogans. "The sub-inspector has been bothering us unnecessarily in the name of security. He brandishes a pistol whenever he sees anyone riding a bike in the evening. So, we had to raise our voice against his excesses," said Pipara Bazaar Industry Association chairperson Dinesh Sah. Rural municipality chair Arun Sah convinced the agitators to call off their protest. Sah asked the authorities concerned to recall the sub-inspector.
