An Indian dacoit died in an exchange of fire between Nepal Police and a gang of robbers at Musahari Tole in Koshi rural municipality of Sunsari last night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyanendra Prasad Fuyal informed that the Indian dacoit was killed during the exchange of fire between a police team from District Police Office Sunsari and the dacoits from India.
The deceased aged around 35 has yet to be identified. The police resorted to open fire for self-defense after the suspected group of 4-5 dacoits targeted the police team with gunfire.
Other members of the dacoits’ team ran away to India after the police intervention, said Fuyal.
The investigation into the incident is underway and the dead body was sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan for post-mortem, the Sunsari district police official said.
