2 policemen were injured when a group of locals resorted to attack at Mailung Police Post in Kispang rural municipality-5 of Nuwakot. The police post and a vehicle were damaged in the locals' attack. Police fired 5 rounds of warning shots to take the situation under control. Police had earlier arrested 4 persons on the charge of stealing building materials from Upper Trishuli 1 A hydropower project site. Of the arrested, Maite Tamang of Uttargaya rural municipality-2 went missing after he jumped in the Trishuli river while police were taking the arrested men to District Police Office. Accusing the policemen of throwing Maite in the river locals staged demonstration and attacked the police post.
CDO Uddhab Thapa said that a team of police under DSP Bhimlal Bhattarai had reached the site of the incident for further investigation.
