Disgruntled locals today padlocked the office of Marchwari Rural Municipality protesting the local body’s decision to shift the office building from Ward No 3 to ward No 4, in Rupandehi.
A meeting of the rural municipality held yesterday had decided to construct a new building at Ward No 4 and shift the office there.
Locals of ward No 3 were miffed by this decision and they resorted to protest. They not only picketed the rural municipality office, but padlocked it too. They also burned tyres in front of the office building.
Chairman of Marchwari Rural Municipality Kesab Nandan Baniya said locals of Ward No 3 were dissatisfied with the decision to construct the office building at Ward No 4.
Chairman Baniya said the present office building was small and it was difficult to deliver service from there.
“The majority of board members agreed to shift the office to a new building,” he added
