Demonstration by sugarcane farmers in Sarlahi demanding grant money.
Farmer started the protest after they didn't receive the grant amount of 65 rupees 28 paisa per quintal and due amount of Rs 5.36 per quintal by the sugar industry from the previous year. Farmers become agitated after industry didn't pay the amount. On the first day, they took out demonstration from Krishna chowk, Hariwan to Indushankar Sugar Industry.
They have announced that, on the second day, they will block East-West highway for one hour and for two hours on third day. If the government doesn't do anything in the three days, they have warned of changing the nature of the movement.
'Due to some employees of Agricultural Ministry, we are not getting grant money and also they are creating problem with procedure', said Raj Kumar Upreti, Chairperson of the Association. 'They are creating problems because they will not get the commission after the money goes straight to the account', he added.
