40-year-old aged Dalit woman from Birgunj was raped on the night of October 26 while going to toilet. The perpetrators filmed a video of the rape and used the video to blackmail the woman for money. The perpetrators hail from Bhawanipur in Birgunj municipality-18. 

35-year-old Manoj Shah Teli, 30-year-old Krishna Shah and 24-year-old Dilip Sahani raped the woman. The incident was filmed by 35-year-old Aakash Shah in his mobile phone. According to the victim, Aakash blackmailed her using the video asking for 25 thousand rupees. When the victim denied giving him the money, he showed the video to two of the villagers and the incident surfaced.

The victim filed an FIR against the four men on October 30 with the help of women leaders of the village. However, the accused have not been arrested even after 3 weeks.

The incident was brought to light when the women leaders informed stakeholders in Birgunj on Friday. The accused have allegedly offered the victim 5 lakh rupees and land to resolve the incident among themselves.

According to the police, case has been filed against the perpetrators and search for the absconding is ongoing.
