Protesting the budget brought by the far-western state government, the main opposition party Nepali Congress and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal's lawmakers set the budget booklet on fire, on Thursday.
As soon as the Provincial Assembly's meeting was boycotted on Thursday afternoon, lawmakers burned a red book protesting the budget for the coming Fiscal Year. The cabinets of Congress and RJP had also protested against the budget.
They alleged that the provincial government had brought in such a budget which is disrespectful to the cabinets.
Ran Bahadur Rawal, Leader of Nepali Congress, said that the budget book was burnt because the government did not bring people-friendly budget.
Bharat Khadka, a provincial member, said that the budget brought in by the provincial government in order to benefit its nearby/close ones without having titles in the red book will not be acceptable.
Provincial members of the Congress and RJP said that they will not validate this budget until it is amended. The Provincial Assembly's meeting on Thursday was interrupted by the Congress. The Parliament Secretariat has informed that the meeting has been postponed till 23rd June after the Congress disrupted it.
