Majhi community in Bhulammu Rural Municipality of Kavre protested against the tender call for excavation of stone and concrete in the Sunkoshi River. They submitted a memorandum to the head of the rural municipality claiming that their traditional profession would be endangered. Majhis of ward number 1,6,7 and 10 of the rural municipality through the Majhi Empowerment Youth Association Nepal rallied around the Dolalghat Bazar in protest of the decision before submitting the memorandum to Gumandhuwaj Kunwar, the chairperson of the municipality.
Majhi people resorted to the sifting of sand after they gave up the profession of fishing and boating.
