On the night of September 18, a 39-year-old police constable deployed in Tripurasundari municipality-2 attempted to rape a 12-year-old student Anuja Thapa. The relatives of the family had filed a complaint against the policeman in Tripurakot police office, accusing him of rape attempt at around 8 pm.
As per the complaint, the accused was drunk while attempting the rape. The accused was transferred to Dunai on the same night.
Around three hundred locals of Rum village then surrounded and protested in front of the police post on Thursday saying that the accused was sent to district headquarter overnight.
Narayan Ranjitkar, chief of the District Police Office, Dolpa, requested the locals not to be involved in indecent activities including the act of vandalism of the police office as the police have arrested the accused and have started the necessary investigation.
