Police have arrested Pawan Giri, ward chairperson of Gujara Municipality-4 on the charge of attacking a team of police. Giri and his team ran into a dispute with deputy mayor Raushan Khatun who wanted to send 78 returnees from India to quarantine in Simara Bhawanipur. Giri insisted upon taking to Kanakpur which resulted into a dispute on Friday evening. Giri's team resorted to attack and pelted stones at the police team that came to resolve the dispute.
According to spokesperson Bharat Shrestha of DPO, Rautahat, Inspector Chandra Kishor Shah sustained an injury in his left hand and another perpetrator of the incident has absconded. Further investigation upon the incident is underway.
