Rape Case settled for Rs 100,000

Khotang, balatkaarko ghatna ek laakh rupaiyama milapatra. Khotang/ March 21 A rape case of 40-year-old woman has been settled with money without any investigation, allegedly under pressure. The police have released the accused Sandesh Rai,18, of Sapteshor VDC-8 on the same day without any investigation after the case was settled with Rs 100,000 and a plot of land to the victim within 20 days. The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused at Area Police Office of Bakshila VDC on March 10 accusing him of raping her on March 9 at her home. Police arrested the accused and released him on the same day without any investigation. Inspector Ramesh Kumar Dev said that the accused was released after the victim did not turned up at District Police Office. UML District Secretary member, Kumar Acharya said that they held discussion between the parties as the accused was the son of a teacher at Thurpudanda Secondary School, Sapteshwar, Naresh Rai. It was learnt that the agreement reached to a settlement after Khagendra Rai, of same place committed to give Rs 100,000 rupees to the victim.
