On the night of August 11, the youths of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City Ward-15 and sand traders clashed. The sand traders attacked the group of 15 youths with shovels when they had reached the river to stop illegal sand extraction. Some local youths have sustained minor injuries in the clash.
Jitpur Simara Sub- Metropolitan City had stopped excavation work in Dudhaura, Balganga, and Pasaha rivers since mid-June, but according to locals, the excavation work has not been stopped for a day rather hundreds of workers, sand traders, tractor drivers, owners have been hauling sand and stones overnight and loading it in more than 50 trucks per night.
