Police have arrested Sunil KC, a wholesale onion businessman from Balkhu vegetable market, for selling onions at a high price. In the inspection done by Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, KC was found selling onions at the rate of Rs 130 per kg.
KC now being kept at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati and a case related to the black market will be filed against him. Black marketing of onions has been rampant as there is a shortage of onions in the Kathmandu Valley after the Indian government announced a ban on the export of this agricultural product.
