Residential Physicians Association, Govinda KC Alliance, and the Nepal Medical Student Society and some doctors and the general public staged a demonstration in support of Govinda KC in Naxal on Tuesday, 6th October.
Dr KC has been on a hunger strike for 23 days now with a demand to reform medical education. He had started his strike from Jumla since 14th of September. Protestors said that the government should form a negotiating team to address the demand immediately and the demand for saving Dr KC's life is rising.
Participants displayed placards with slogans and messages including 'Dr KC is not a person, but a voice', 'Dr. KC, we are with you', 'Save Dr Govinda KC' as his health condition is deteriorating and the government has not taken it seriously. On Tuesday, a three-member team including the Education Secretary met Dr KC and has requested him to stop the fast.
