Locals of Suwarna Rural Municipality-8 of Bara staged a protest against the police by burning tires and blocking the road accusing the police of unnecessarily assaulting them on December 31.
Police had confiscated their 54 goats alleging that they smuggled it from India. Whereas local people are protesting denying the police's allegations.
During the police intervention, two local females, 30-year-old Babita Khatun and 60-year-old LalDevi Khatun were injured. The chairperson of ward-8 also claimed that he was treated indecently and beaten by the police upon his request for not harassing the locals. The chairperson from ward-6 of the same municipality also accused the police of their behaviour among locals.
However, the police said that they had obstructed the woman while she was trying to control the smuggled goats and their constable was also injured in the incident.
