25-year-old Anita Devi Sah of Mahottari's Balwa municipality ward 6 was searching for justice with her two-year-old son after her husband Bishnu Dev Sah, fled with another woman. Anita's family had given Rs 1.5 million in cash as dowry, Rs 500,000 worth of jewelry, Rs 320,000 worth of motorcycles and spent Rs 2.5 million in the marriage party.
A few days after marriage, Anita says that her mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law started assaulting her under various pretexts, she had bruises on various parts of her body from the beatings. Anita and her husband had moved to Janakpurdham to stay away from the in-laws to find a way out of the family dispute but the husband escaped a few days later. Anita did not get support from the police even after several days past lodging complaints.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by Anita's father with the police, police are searching for the absconding husband.
