Civil Movement staged a protest at Khuwalung, the cultural site of the Kirat community at the confluence of Tamor, Arun, and Dudhkoshi against the government's move to break the Khawalung stone, the cultural image of the Kirat community, in order to start ship transportation service in Saptakoshi. Among the protestors were the Massive civil movement, Federation of Indigenous Literary Writers, and Heritage Conservationists from different parts of Eastern Nepal.
Secretary of the Khuwalung Rescue Committee alleges the government of trying to break the Khuwalung stone by violating the faith and sentiments of the locals. According to him, most locals are in favour of not breaking stones.
