Laxmi Cahulagain, a 9-year-old girl of  Soru Rural Municipality-9 of Mugu district was found dead three days after her disappearance. The deceased was missing from Trapani, Soru Municipality-8 since April 3 was found dead in the Karnali River on April 7. According to the mother of the deceased, the dead body of her daughter was found stuck in a rock in the middle of the Karnali River by a local who had gone fishing 500 meters away from the girl's house.

According to a local, the girl may have been taken away from the house and thrown into the river after being raped.

Police  arrested 20-year-old Pravesh Rawal, of Tarapani on March 6 on the charge of murder after sexual abuse.

Police further stated that the girl was knocked unconscious after hitting her head on a stone, the accused had pushed the girl after she retaliated the sexual abuse. Then, the accused threw the unconscious girl to the Karnali river.
