Locals staged a sit-in in front of the District Police Office on June 13 demanding the release of the arrested locals who were arrested on the charge of assaulting Gyanendra Shah during the clash at Karekhola in Birendranagar of Surkhet on the night of June 11. Locals are agitated saying that Gyanendra Shahi's group had beaten the locals after consuming alcohol and Shahi had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that they had beaten them.
Meanwhile, the police said that they are investigating the matter. The clash took place around 11 pm on June 11 injuring youths on both sides and police arrested five locals. Shahi has accused the youths of attacking him. According to him, the government-mobilized people attacked him.
