In Surkhet, a video and photo of a dog being hung by its owner on a nearby motorable bridge have now been criticized. Rights groups in particular are calling it a crime. Animal rights activists lodged a complaint with the police demanding action against the person who killed the dog. In Surkhet, groups including The Dodo Foundation, which is volunteering for livestock, have lodged an open complaint with the police.
The foundation's chairman, Milan Karki, has also filed a personal complaint seeking action against those who killed the dog. It has been revealed that the man living on the bank of Itram River in Birendranagar-12 killed his dog on June 19 due to pressure from his neighbors. Police have arrested the person who had killed his dog by hanging it on the basis of the petition, however, no legal action has been taken.
