According to the police, the man had reportedly assaulted his wife and drove her out of the house before committing the crime. A police team reached the incident site and rescued the girl in an unconscious state one hour after the incident. The man, who was in inebriated state, was taken into custody. Police Inspector Prithvi Narayan Oli said the man has admitted to the crime during interrogation. The girl is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital and is said to be out of danger. The doctor involved in her treatment said her health is improving.
