Flood victims padlocked the Gaidakot municipality office

2021-08-29

Gandaki, Nawalparasi East, Gaidakot, Ward 4

Locals of Gaidakot Municipality-4 padlocked the Municipality's office after the village was inundated due to continuous rain of 4 days alleging that local people's representatives didn't take any initiative despite the problem of flooding for years. Tritha Poudel, a local flood victim, claimed that when they approached the mayor, deputy-mayor and local representative to talk about the issue, they switched off their phone so, they had to padlock the office and added that if the municipality is unable to work, then the locals themselves would solve the problem.

Ward Chairman Krishna Prasad Neupane said that the municipality's budget could solve the issue and the state government and the federal government should take more initiatives. Around 50 families of Ward No. 4, who were inundated due to prolonged incessant rains, padlocked the main gate of the municipality on August 29.
