Local representatives obstructed the construction of the Galchi-Trishuli-Malung-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road project, the national pride project connecting with China. Project Chief Narayan Dutta Bhandari informed that Ward Chairman of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 Ishwar Bahadur Thapa and his family had obstructed the work due to the compensation dispute from Betrawati Bai junction to Nayapul.
According to Project chief Bhandari, some people, including the ward chairman, misbehaved and assaulted the workers during the construction of the 300-meter road on September 13. The project demanded additional security personnel from the district administration office after the local administration mistreated the security personnel deployed for the project's security.
Meanwhile, according to Bhandari, in the past, the Trishuli III Hydropower Project could not move ahead with the work in the area as the issue of compensation had not been resolved. But the compensation has already been distributed to more than 20 families and will be distributed to 30 families within a year.
