Fourteen inmates were injured in a clash between inmates at Morang Prison over the pretext of regular torture from guard Kiran Gurung and inmate leaders. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Arun Kumar BC, six persons including guard Gurung were severely injured and eight others sustained minor injuries in the clash that took place on November 9.
Although the police said that there was a clash between the prisoners over the "Deusi" dispute, the relatives of the prisoners said that the clash was due to the guard's torture. The relatives of the inmates have requested to transfer their inmates to other places as there are frequent clashes inside the prison. According to the police, there have been frequent clashes due to overcrowding. The situation at Morang Prison is now normal after 14 people, including a guard, were released after a commotion broke out inside the jail. There are 972 inmates in the prison, including 72 women.
