The Chitwan bandh, which was called in protest of the US aid project MCC, has affected the urban areas of Chitwan.MCC Abolition Campaign Joint Struggle Committee Chitwan called for a strike on December 14 demanding the abolition of MCC. Educational institutions were been able to come into operation due to the bandh. While the shops were partially open. Vehicles are moving as the protesters are not on the road.
Police arrested Ghannath Sapkota, a central member of the Patriotic Republican Front of Nepal, from Pulchowk. The struggle committee has stated that the strike was called with the support of 13 political parties. The struggle committee had earlier organized a signature campaign and a torch rally in Chitwan against the MCC.
