Saptari police arrested three accused on December 26 on the charge of attempting to rape two young girls. According to the Area Police Office, Kalyanpur, 25-year-old Parameshwar Chaudhary, 22-year-old Deva Chaudhary and 20-year-old Ram Vilash Chaudhary of Shambhunath Municipality-11 Laharania of Saptari are arrested on the charge of attempted rape.

According to the police, the victim's uncle and father had lodged a joint complaint at the Area Police Office, Kalyanpur on August 25. According to the victim, the accused had attempted to rape her at a mango orchard north of the pond on the East-West Dagar Road in Laharnia on August 22. The teenagers were returning after watching the Krishna Jhula fair and cultural program at Arnaha in Shambhunath Municipality-12. According to the victim, they fled to the village after the accused tried to rape her by tying her with a rope.
