Bishwadev Shrestha, a Nepali Congress's mayoral candidate for Gorkha Municipality was physically assaulted by the party's cadres in Dipak Digital photo color lab located at Gorkha municipality-6, on April 25. The cadres physically assaulted Shrestha alleging that the party gave the mayoral ticket to an individual who doesn't have the public's favor. Shrestha sustained injuries in his hand. Shrestha claimed that approximately 7 people assaulted him. 

The cadres claimed that the party had made wrong decision despite having many other capable candidates. Police have stepped up security alert in the market area. Congress has not been able to register any ward candidature in the municipal so far. Dissatisfied cadres have demanded to correct the decision. There were 10 aspirants for the post of mayor of Gorkha municipality.
