Dawachhatra Sherpa, CPN (Maoist Center) mayoral candidate of Madi municipality, Furwa Sherpa, and Pasang Sherpa of Madi municipality-5 have accused the police of assaulting them on May 16 night. The victims alleged that on May 16 while they were having dinner at the vote counting site, a group of 12-13 police assaulted them. Locals alleged that the police were under the influence of alcohol when they assaulted the victims. According to Dawachatra, they were physically assaulted during the interrogation of police when CPN-UML cadres chanted slogans against Nepali Congress.

Dawachatra claimed that his wife and daughter were also physically assaulted by the police in their house. Due to the assault Shyam Sherpa sustained injuries in his head and his hand was fractured. Shyam underwent medical treatment in Kathmandu whereas other injured got treatment in a local health post. Police denied the accusation that they were under the influence of alcohol during the incident but they confessed that they assaulted the victims.
