Nepali Congress party cadres led by Shekhar Koirala staged a sit-in in front of the party office in Sanepa of Lalitpur on September 28, demanding equal opportunity in the upcoming election. They alleged that only a few leaders from their side were included in the proportional list submitted by the party to the Election Commission. The demonstrators demanded that they should get 40 percent representation. Congress leader Jagdishwar Narsingh KC said that even though the attention of the party was drawn to this issue, they were ignored. He further added that everyone within the party should be given equal opportunities.
