Relatives of deceased patient stages sit-in in KMC hospital alleging doctor's negligence for patient's death

The relatives of 48-year-old Sailendra Bidhyadhar of Kathmandu metropolitan city-9, who died during the course of treatment at Kathmandu Medial College (KMC) on October 16, staged a sit-in in front of KMC alleging that Sailendra Bidhyadhar died due to the negligence of the doctors in the hospital. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the doctors and their alleged negligence. The agitated relatives of the deceased demanded proper compensation and the cost of treatment in the neuro hospital, saying that the doctor cut the vital nerve of the patient's head during the operation of the brain tumor resulting in the patient's death. On the other hand, Indra Bahadur Shrestha, the coordinator of the struggle committee formed by the patient's  relatives, said that the hospital administration did not show any interest in compensating the victim's  family. They also blamed the team of doctors lead by Dr Amrit Thapa of negligence in treatment.
