Bhumi Raut, father of Gitadevi Raut, 20, of Gonarpur in Meghnath Gorhanna VDC-7 has filed a complaint at the District Police Office on October 28 accusing her family of killing her for dowry. According to the police, preliminary investigation showed that Gita's father-in-law Khairu Raut and family members killed her for dowry-related dispute on December 12. Family of Gita had performed her final rites immediately after her murder at 9 pm on the same day. However, police took her half burnt body to hospital for post-mortem after being informed about the murder by neighbors and her relatives. SP Saurav Singh Rana said that her family members are absconding after the murder. He added that search for them is ongoing. Her husband Nathuni Raut is in Punjab, India for employment. Gita was married to Nathuni last year. SP Rana said that the neighbors refused to support police investigation, adding that they are also under the purview of investigation.
