Kathmandu, Adhikari ko antesthi ko batawaran banauna: ayog. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to immediately create an environment for carrying out final rites of conflict victim Nanda Prasad Adhikari of Phujel, Gorkha. Adhikari had died on September 22 during his indefinite hunger strike in Bir Hospital demanding that his son Krishna Prasad Adhikari’s murderers be brought to justice. Krishna Prasad was killed by the then CPN-Maoist cadres in June 2004 in Chitwan. Issuing a press statement on December 22, the NHRC asked the government to manage for Adhikari’s funeral as per religion and tradition of his family. NHRC spokesperson Mohana Ansari said the government has to comply with a five-point agreement it signed with Ganga Maya, wife of the deceased elderly, on October 17 to duly make funeral for Adhikari and take actions against those involved in the 2004 murder. The national human rights watchdog also highlighted that the state need to manage his funeral as per the Right to Religion mentioned in Article 23 of the Interim Constitution and Article 27 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The Cabinet has already decided on October 27 to make necessary arrangement for carrying out the final rites of Adhikari. Ram
