The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday arrested two of its own officials on the charge of taking Rs 200,000 bribe purportedly to settle a pending corruption case at the CIAA regional office, Pokhara.
Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, the anti-graft body said officials Binod Amatya and Toyanath Sharma took bribes from Chief of District Health Office of Parbat Dr Narayan Ojha over alleged irregularities in procurement of medicines by the Kushma-based District Health Office.
A probe carried out by the CIAA headquarters had revealed that the duo had received bribe from Dr Ojha. “I am disheartened to know that even CIAA official officials who should have worked for rule of law and justice were found involved in corruption,” CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki twitted on Tuesday.
