A woman who was sold in a brothel in India by her relatives 14 months ago has managed to come home on January 15. The victim was sold to the agents of a brothel by Sital Pariyar of Chitwan in October 2013. She was handed over to 45-year-old Prem Mandal of Birgunj who took her to India in the pretext of work and sold her in a brothel for Rs 34,000. After several failed attempts to escape from the place, she got help from a visitor at the brothel who gave her a mobile through which she managed to contact her maternal uncle Ram Bahadur Darji in Manhari, Makwanpur. Ram Bahadur and the victim’s family filed a letter at Maiti Nepal Hetaunda on January 1 leading Maiti Nepal to file a complaint at police with the details of the events. On the basis of that information, the Indian police managed to arrest Mandal on January 8. The victim managed to flee the place on January 9.
