District Court has issued an order on February 12 to send Sajani Devi Sada aka Kudi, 26, to prison on remand.
Sajani Devi, of Terahauta VDC-3, has been accused of strangulating her son Santosh Sada, 6, daughters Nandini,3, and six months old Anjali.
District Judge Ram Prasad Adhikari sent her to jail after she recorded that she killed her children after that failed three suicide attempts. She added that she took the dreadful step because of her poverty and sexual exploitation of her father-in-law.
The Court held her father-in-law Kesiyal Sada and handed him over to the District Administration Office after releasing him on general date. A case of public offence has been slapped against him.
The bodies of the children were found in the west bank of Koshi River in Bairawa VDC-3 on January 3. The bodies’ postmortem was conducted at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj the next day.
Police recovered a poison bottle, a pair of lady’s slippers and sari along with the bodies. She had gone to her maternal home on December 30, 2013, with her children and left for home on January 1.
She was arrested in Haripur VDC-1, Sunsari in a state of disorientation on January 16. She was admitted at Dharmeshwar Hospital, Theliya after that Area Police Office Kanchanrup filed a case of homicide against her on January 18.
Her husband lives in Imadol, Lalitpur district for work.
