2015-03-12

Gandaki, Gorkha, Gorkha

Several organizations and political parties have criticized the attack and misbehavior with Gorkha LDO Prem Raj Giri at his office on March 11 issuing a statement on March 12. The locals were affected after the staff of the District Development Committee conducted ‘pen-down’ as a protest against the incident. NC, UML, RPP Nepal, and Pariwar Dal along with other professional organizations condemned the act. LDO Giri was abused by the UCPN-M cadres accusing him of sending Dr. Baburam Bhattarai a delayed invitation to preside over the 8th district council meeting, scheduled for March 12 as the chief guest. The meeting has been postponed after the attack. LDO Giri said that he was saddened by such an attack adding that such behavior would not create a conducive environment to work. UCPN-M in-charge Amar Tamu, however, said that there was some exchange of words but not physical assault and misbehavior.
