Police have registered a case of rape attempt against Sheikh Abdullah, 28, of Mahadevpatti VDC-6. A 19-year-old woman has accused Abdullah of trying to rape her in the midnight of March 12 at her house while her husband was away observing a drama in the village. The accused ran away after the victim cried for help. The District Police Office said that a mobile phone set belonging to Abdullah and his Indian identity card was recovered from the incident site. Husband of the victim said that the incident reached police later as the locals tried to settle the incident in the village. Locals had nabbed the accused on March 14 and handed him over to Sedhaba Police Office on Mach 16. A complaint was filed against him on March 17. Meanwhile, District Police Office has filed a case against Sanjit Kumar, 30, of Birgunj sub-metropolis-3 on March 18 accusing him of raping a 15-year-old girl.
