The agitating activists affiliated to the UCPN (Maoist)-led 30-party alliance on Sunday torched the copies of the national dailies including the Kantipur Daily. The activists torched the papers citing the newspapers did not publish the news of the ongoing relay hunger strike which is being held with a demand for revocation of the decision to transfer the service centres of Land Reform Office and the Survey Department to Chandrapur. Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) District Working Committee Rautahat has denounced the act of setting the newspapers ablaze. In a statement, FNJ has drawn the attention of the concerned to the increasing trend of branding newspapers 'wrong' during the absence of relevant news and 'right' when there are news published. Meanwhile, two agitators and a policeman were injured in the ensuing clash following the demonstration by the 30-party alliance in the district. In the clash, UCPN (Maoist) District in charge Upendra Prasad Shah and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal's Shribhagawan Pattel were injured. The clash took place when the police tried to block the lathy wielding rally staged by the alliance.
