Three persons were arrested for selling the relief materials, which were meant for the earthquake survivors, to the public on Monday evening. Police arrested Ranam Kumar KC, 19, of Sunarpani-8 of Ramechhap, currently living in Kandaghari, driver Singh Bahadur Karki, 42, of Hariban in Sarlahi and living in Kandaghari and Bikash Sarad, 38, of Gyaneswor.
The three were arrested while selling sacks of rice transported on a truck (Na 3 Kha 3990) with a banner reading 'Laxmi Rice Mill, Nautanhwa district, Naharajgunj, Uttar Pradesh, India'. The Metropolitan Police Range Office Kalimati arrested them while selling each packet at Rs 700. The police impounded 440 sacks of rice, the truck, and cash amounting to Rs 116,000. The three are under interrogation and will be trialed according to the existing law, police said.
