APF men thrash three locals in Phidim

APF men from Him Sikhar Batallion in Phidim have severely beaten three locals and misbehaved with a woman in Eklesaal of Phidim Municipality-4. 27-year-old Niraj Lawati from Pallotar, 26-year-old Shambhu Lawati, and Kishor Angdembe were seriously injured due to the beating. The security men who came in an APF vehicle also misbehaved with Kishor's wife Suma Angdembe, 18yrs, and his sister-in-law Sanch Angdembe. They also manhandled Kishor's 65-year-old father. Niraj Lawati has sustained serious injuries in his leg, eye, and back while another victim Kishor's hand has been broken and he has been referred to the hospital outside the district. Meanwhile, the others injured due to the beating are being treated at district hospital Panchthar. Following a dispute with some APF men on Wednesday evening at around 7:30, The local youths were hauled in APF vehicle by a group of security men lead by constable Dhruva Pyakurel. They were then taken to the battalion and badly thrashed for around two hours. At 9:30 at night the APF men took the three to the district hospital in Panchthar. Secretary of Panchthar chapter of FNJ Giriraj Banskota who went to meet the victims was not allowed inside the hospital by the APF men who had taken it under control. According to him they also did not allow relatives of the victims, journalists, and human rights activists to meet the victims. Despite this Inspector Raviraj Thapaliya of District Police Office, Panchthar claimed that the APF men had only used a little force to take the victims who had consumed alcohol under control.
