Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

(Update)--Advocate Roshan Kumar Jha has filed a complaint in the supreme court against amnesty given to Pradip Jang Pandey and 21 other people who were charged in a corruption case. On the recommendation of the Minister of Council Pandey and the other 21 were given pardoned from their sentence and penalty by President Ram Baran Yadav on Monday. The Hearing of the case will be tomorrow at 11 am.

Update........ The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed the government to explain in writing why the corruption accused former President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pradeep Jung Pandey, was pardoned. Responding to a writ filed against the government decision, a single bench of SC Justice Govinda Kumar Upadhyay demanded the reasons from the government for granting clemency to Pandey. Earlier in March, the Kathmandu District Court had sent Pandey behind bars in connection with a Panchyat-era corruption case.
